The International Business Forum "Investments and Collaboration Opportunities" took place in premiere in Balti today. In the event, which was a major one, participated almost 220 local economic agents and representatives of 75 companies from Romania, Ukraine, Russia, Latvia, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey etc.

The Forum was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Moldova with the support of the Enterprise Europe Network, central and local public authorities and international actors, including the public support institutions and organizations of business promotion.

According to the CCI’s press service announcement, the event aimed to promote the image of Moldova on the international arena, as well as the local economy as an attractive space for business and investment development.

The CCI’s Chairman, Sergiu Harea, stressed that the economic development of any state depended largely on the regional development, purposing to intensify and diversify economic activities, stimulating private sector investment and contributing to reduction of unemployment while increasing the living standards.

“This event aims to support the consolidation and improvement of the economic relations between the Moldovan companies and eventual foreign partners, as a result of their increasing competitiveness, by creating a discussion platform and presenting the investment opportunities in the northern region of the Republic of Moldova,” said the Chairman of Moldovan CCI.

At his part, Vasile Plamadeala, the EU Delegation in Moldova Trade Counselor, stated that there was and there is a positive evolution in the context of the bilateral relations between Moldova and the EU, especially the commercial ones. One of the factors contributing to the increase of the trade balance is the Free Trade Agreement signed between Moldova and the EU. As such, 65 per cent of all Moldovan exports go to the EU market.

The forum ends with B2B meetings between representatives of the domestic and foreign business environment. Also, the roundtable "The dual system: experiences, opportunities, benefits" will be held there.
